China is the 3rd largest country in the world so knowing how to plan your holiday can be bewildering at first.

This magnificent country spans 9,326,410 square kilometres bordering fourteen countries and featuring the highest mountains in the world, vast plateaus, sand deserts, and broad plains. Its ancient dynasties date back to 2200-1700BC.

China has 23 provinces including the autonomous regions (Guangxi, Inner, Mongolia, Ningxia, Tibet and Xinjiang) and two special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau).

Beijing

Xian

Xian is located in Shaanxi province and home of the famous Terracotta Warriors - only discovered in 1974. Xian is easily accessed by flights from east and west.

Shanghai

Cosmopolitan Shanghi is soaring ahead of the rest of China with its modern buildings, chic restaurants and stylish locals. Although not as laden as other cities with cultural and historical sites, equal time should be spent here to absorb the electric atmosphere. Don't miss the acrobat show in Shanghai - a must see for any itinerary.

Tibet

Tibet, the "Rooftop of the World" is situated in the mountainous Himalayas. The Buddhist Kingdom, now under Chinese rule, is a fascinating country with rich history and friendly locals.

Lhasa is the capital of Tibet and home to the Jokhanf Temple, Drepung Monastery and the scenic Nam-Tso lake on the Changtang plateau or Yarlung Valley.

It is highly recommended to travellers to Tibet to experience the Tibet Express Train. The journey from Beijing to Lhasa takes close to 50 hours, traversing over 4000km, and is spent on a modern express train especially designed to travel at altitude.
