Upon arrival in Kigali you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Following a detailed briefing and introduction to your English speaking driver/guide, the afternoon will be spent on a city tour of Kigali including a visit to the Genocide Memorial.
After an early breakfast, drive through the countryside to Ruhengeri, the main base town for gorilla tracking. Optional opportunity to track gorillas today. In the afternoon visit the markets, villages and local communities or take an optional visit (paid locally) to the little known twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. (B)(L)(D)
After a morning briefing on how to behave in the forest and in the presence of mountain gorillas, you then enter the park for a gorilla trek which will take until around midday depending on where you find them. Once the gorillas are located all fatigue is forgotten, as the experience is often described as being the most profound natural history experience in the world. (B)(L)(D)
After breakfast drive to your resort on Lake Kivu. Optional excursions that are available include boating, walking and trekking. (B)(L)(D)
After a leisurely breakfast, enjoy the scenic transfer back to Kigali airport for your departure flight. (B)
