Day 1

Paro

On arrival you will be met and transferred to Uma Paro. Once settled, take the opportunity to acclimatise. (D)

Day 2

Paro - Thimphu - Punakha

Visit some of the major attractions of Thimpu, before the drive through the mountain pass of Dochu La and enjoy views of teh Himalayan range. (B)(L)(D)

Day 3

Punakha

The morning starts with a short walk to reach Chimmi Lhakhang. Heading down the valley,  the 300-year-old Punakha Dzong comes into view. After lunch, continue your walk to Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. An optional white water rafting experience is available. (B)(L)(D)

Day 4

Punakha Valley - Phobjikha Valley

Winding down from our hillside hotel we cross the river and we make a short stop to view the
Wangduephodrang Dzong (under restoration after fire ) dramatically located on the spur of a hill at the
confluence of the Puna Tsang Chhu and Dang Chhu rivers. We then drive steadily passing through semitropical
vegetation to Phobjikha, one of the most pleasant valleys in Bhutan. With its alpine setting on the
western slope of the Black Mountains, the valley is famous as the seasonal home of the rare Black-necked
cranes, who spend the winter months here (B)(L)(D)

Day 5

Phobjikha - Paro

We retrace our steps back over the Dochu La for a second chance of that wonderful view of the Himalayan range.
The final part of the drive to COMO Uma Paro is through apple orchards and rice paddies back to our mountain home, where you canspend the rest of the day in this calming setting. (B)(L)(D)

Day 6

Paro

Today we wind through pine forests high above COMO Uma Paro to the pretty grounds of the fortress-like monastery of Zurig Dzong. We traverse across to Ta Dzong, home to Bhutan’s National Museum, with magnificent viewsover Paro, and on down to Rinpung Dzong (Fortress on a Heap of Jewels). The trail then leads across Paro
Chhu (River) via the traditional covered bridge Nyamai Zam, and then past the main archery ground, Ugyen
Pelri Palace and into Paro town. Driving a few kilometres north of Paro, we pay our respects at Kyichu
Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples in Bhutan with its magical orange tree that bears fruit all year round. Time
permitting; we drive further up the valley to Drukgyel Dzong, built in 1648 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal to
control the northern route to Tibet.(B,L,D)

Day 7

Paro

The historical Paro Valley is the focus of today’s activities, culminating in a visit to the Taktsang ‘Tiger’s Nest’
Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most important pieces of architecture. According to legend, this Cliffside is where
Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) landed on the back of a flying tigress, bringing Buddhism to Bhutan from
Tibet. The trip starts early in order to avoid the hot sun during the two-hour climb to the Tiger’s Nest viewpoint,
a steep hike passing a waterfall and ending among beautiful murals at the monastery’s main entrance. If time
allows, there is the possibility of heading further up to visit remote temples. After lunch either a prepared picnic
or from the charming Taktsang cafeteria you return to COMO Uma Paro, where you can relax, enjoying the steam rooms, gym and swimming pool or indulging in one of our COMO Shambhala
