Not many people think of crystal clear waters and soft white sand between their toes when planning their trip to Africa. But the continent boasts some of the best beaches in the world – and they aren’t just on the small paradisiacal islands dotted around the Indian Ocean.
South Africa
South Africa’s Garden Route is home to the country’s best beaches. Mossel Bay has over 60 kilometres of long, sandy beaches just waiting for you to swim, surf, fish or do nothing at all. Plettenberg Bay, or Plett as the locals call it, has some of the best beaches in South Africa. Surfing and body boarding are also popular, with this coastline having some of the best waves in the country. Mozambique
One country that isn’t on too many people’s to do lists is Mozambique but, the long Indian Ocean coastline considered some of the best in Africa, year-round sunshine, white sandy beaches, shimmering blue waters and abundant marine life make this the perfect place for beach goers.
