WILDLIFE

Malaysia is home to some of Asia’s most diverse and exciting wildlife. Get up close to orangutans in the jungle and spy rare proboscis monkeys in mangroves. Underwater look out for gentle reef sharks and sea turtles.

Summit mighty Mount Kinabalu or trek through some of Borneo’s incredible national parks in search of rare wildlife or the world’s largest - and smelliest flower, the Rafflesia.

With influences from Chinese, Indian, Malay and even Portuguese cultures it’s no surprise the resulting cuisine is both delicious and diverse. Food is serious business in this corner of the world. Don’t be surprised if you are  peppered with questions like, ‘Have you makan today?’ Makan is the Malay word for ‘eat’ and it might be the most  used word in the whole language.

Enjoy a meaningful cultural encounter with the Iban people who call Borneo home. Visit a traditional longhouse to see how many of them still live today and browse their incredible handicrafts in local markets.
