Arrive in St John’s to embark the National Geographic Explorer. (D)
An overnight sail leads to the island archipelago of St. Pierre et Miquelon. Explore the role of St. Pierre in history as we visit the smallest but most populated island. Board Zodiacs for a quick trip across the harbour to Île aux Marin, a picturesque abandoned fishing village. Or choose to hike above the town getting to know the interesting flora and fauna. Finish your explorations with a warm baguette or pain au chocolat at a local patisserie. (B)(L)(D)
Visit the reconstructed Fortress of Louisbourg, an 18th-century fort where the British and French fought. Later, visit the village of Baddeck, where Alexander Graham Bell built his summer home, now the centrepiece of a beautiful park and museum. Enjoy a guided tour of the Bell Museum and have the opportunity to see historic artefacts not otherwise available to the public. (B)(L)(D)
A cluster of wispy islands isolated in the Gulf of St. Lawrence, the Îles de la Madeleine are home to miles of dunes, grassy hills, and dazzling red sandstone cliffs. Local experts will guide Zodiacs across this landscape of caves and sea arches, stopping along the way in colourful fishing villages to learn about Acadian culture. Graced by cliffs, fjords, and a sweeping alpine plateau, Gros Morne National Park has beefor its spectacular geology. Go on a variety of walks with naturalists along waterfalls, marine inlets, and forested trails. In the World Heritage site of L’Anse aux Meadows, walk among 11th-century Norse ruins and reconstructed sod huts and learn the saga of the Vikings in North America - nearly 500 years before Columbus arrived. (B)(L)(D)

Sail through the harbour narrows in the early morning as we approach St. John’s, the picturesque capital city of Newfoundland and the most easterly point of North America. Visit the colourful waterfront and historic Signal Hill or the Rooms Museum before you transfer to the airport for your flight home. (B)
