Day 1

Luang Prabang - Pakbeng

Transfer early to the pier and board your cruise for Pakbeng. Two stops will be made along the way, the first at Pak Ou Caves. The caves are carved out of the limestone cliffs and contain thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues. Next stop is the village of  Ban Baw, where it is possible to watch the process of making traditional rice alcohol. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious buffet lunch on board as the cruise continues along the scenic Mekong River. Reach the town of Pakbeng late in the afternoon, hopefully in time for sunset. Overnight at Luang Say Lodge. (L)(D)

Day 2

Pakbeng - Huay Xai

Early risers may visit the morning market where nearby villagers and hill tribes come to buy and exchange goods. After breakfast back at the lodge, board your boat for the cruise up to Huay Xai. A stop will be made at a small
village to see the authentic rural life of hill tribe settlements. Arrive in Huay Xai around 5pm and assistance is provided through immigration to Chiang Kong on the Thailand side if required. (B)(L)

NOTE: In low season the cruise only operates on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The cruise does not operate in June. A reverse option from Huay Xai is also available.
