Day 1

Kota Kinabalu

Transfer from the airport to your hotel.

Day 2

Marine Park & Mari Mari Cultural Village

Enjoy a cruise through Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park. Spend the day snorkelling in the clear waters and relax on some white sand islands. Later discover the local tribes at Mari Mari Cultural Village. The village operates as a museum preserving Borneo’s ethnic culture and features five different ethnic tribes in one village. (B)

Day 3

Kota Kinabalu - Poring Hot Springs - Sabah Tea

Today head out to the cooler climates of Kinabalu Park, home to between 5,000- 6,000 species of plants and 430 different birds and mammals. Stop at Kundasang War Memorial,continue to Poring Hot Springs where you can take a dip in the warm sulpher springs before you head to Sabah Tea Plantaion. (B)

Day 4

Sabah Tea - Kinabatangan River

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast this morning  before taking a guided tour of the organic tea plantation to witness the processes involved in bringing tea to the table.There is a variety of medicinal teas available to try before continue your overland trip to Kinabatangan. The Kinabatangan River is one of the longest rivers in Borneo and is home to some of Borneo’s highest concentrations of wildlife. In the afternoon, head out on a river cruise in search of proboscis monkeys, orang-utans and elephants. (B/L/D)

Day 5

Kinabatangan River

Today it’s all about the wildlife. Dawn and dusk are the best times and you will enjoy boat cruises at these times to look for proboscis monkeys, silver leaf and long tail macaques and, if you’re lucky, elephants. (B)(L)(D)

Day 6

Kinabatangan - Sepilok

In the afternoon, proceed to Sepilok Orang-utan Sanctuary for the afternoon feeding session of Borneo’s most iconic mammal. It is also possible to arrange a night walk at Sepilok. (B)

Day 7

Sepilok

This morning, visit the outstanding Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, where you have the opportunity to observe these stunning animals. Then continue to rainforest trails or visit the interesting and highly educational Rainforest Discovery Centre, with its incredible 28-meter-high, 147-meter-long raised walkway that affords exceptional canopy views. This provides a great opportunity to spot wild orangutans and some of the 250 species of bird that live in the Kabili-Sepilok Nature Reserve.Afternoon, free at your own leisure. (B)

Day 8

Sepilok - Sandakan

Transfer to Sandakan Airport where your trip ends. (B)

This sponsorship assists with food, specialised care and support for the orangutans at the sanctuary. For each orangutan adopted Adventure World Travel receives a certificate of adoption, history and regular updates of the orangutan they adopt, which can then be shared with booked guests. Established in 1991, BOS Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and reintroduction of Bornean orangutans as well as the conservation of their natural habitat. With the assistance of local government, communities, volunteers and partners, the foundation works to ensure the orangutans are protected, effective reintroduced and monitored.
