On arrival you will be met and transferred to Galton House. (D)
After breakfast you will be collected by your guide to set off on your journey, which takes you through Otjiwarongo to reach Mushara Outpost situated on the eastern boundary of Etosha National Park. You will arrive at the luxurious Mushara Outpost mid-afternoon and, time allowing, you can enter Etosha National Park for some exciting game viewing. Mushara Outpost is an excellent base from which to explore the eastern side of Etosha National Park. (B)(D)
Today you have the option of either morning and afternoon games drives, returning for lunch, or spending a full day in the park. Etosha National Park covers 22,270 km2, of which approximately 5000 km2 is made up of saline depressions or ‘pans’. The park consists of grassland, woodland and savannah. Game viewing centres on the numerous springs and waterholes where several different species can often be seen at one time. The park boasts some 114 mammals and over 340 bird species. Wildlife that you might see includes elephant, lion, giraffe, blue wildebeest, eland, kudu, gemsbok (oryx), zebra, rhino, cheetah, leopard, hyena, honey badger and warthog, as well as the endemic black faced impala. After breakfast depart Mushara Outpost and head into the heart of Damaraland, where you will spend the nextt hree nights at your specially erected //Huab Under Canvas Camp. Damaraland is typified by displays of colour, magnificent table-topped mountains, rock formations and strange-looking vegetation. //Huab Under Canvas is located in a core desert adapted black rhino area in the //Huab Conservancy in Damaraland. The camp is virtually invisible from anywhere and it carries arguably the lowest environmental footprint of any camp in Namibia. Activities include tracking desert adapted rhino, exploring the upper and less crowded //Huab River in search of desert adapted elephants, nature walks and scenic game drives, as well as the possibility of visiting some nearby prehistoric rock engravings. Today enjoy the freedom to explore the fascinating landscapes with your private Ultimate Guide. Damaraland is a surprising refuge for desert adapted wildlife that may include elephants, giraffe, oryx, springbok and even some predators including lion. //Huab Under Canvas Camp works with the Save the Rhino Trust. You’ll spend an exciting morning tracking rhino on foot before going back to relax at camp during the heat of the day. This afternoon you will head out on a leisurely walk with your guide, arriving at your STELLAR ESCAPE in time for sunset. A bush dinner is prepared on the open fire, followed by a short astronomy lesson. The night is spent under the Namibian night sky. (B)(L)(D)
After a spectacular sunrise return to camp for breakfast. Today your guide will take you to visit a local Himba settlement – you may have to search for a while as the seminomadic Himba people are often on the move. Learn about the customs and traditions of this very proud nation and gain an insight into their beliefs and way of life. A picnic lunch is enjoyed at a suitably scenic location, embracing the unique ambience of the area. Return to camp late afternoon and enjoy your final evening in camp. (B)(L)(D)
Time allowing this morning, you will search for desert adapted elephants on your way to the local airstrip for your scheduled light aircraft flight back to Windhoek. (B)
