Travel down the Klondike Highway to the historic Alaskan town of Skagway. Witness the extraordinary colours of Emerald Lake, the scenic lakeside village of Carcross, the famous White Pass and the Pacific coast.
Enjoy some more time to explore the capital, including a visit of the authentic S.S.Klondike paddle wheeler. The road trip to Yellowknife officially begins on the popular Alaska Highway. Arrive in Watson Lake in the evening where there is opportunity to visit the Northern Lights Space and Science Centre.
Watson Lake is home to the famous Sign Post Forest that has currently over 72,000 signs from all around the globe. Continue on to the fabulous Rocky Mountains, an iconic landscape that offers a good chance to see more wildlife deep in the Muskwa-Kechika National Park.
This is a perfect day to enjoy all the outdoor opportunities and the magnificent surroundings. Hike in the beautiful provincial park or paddle in a canoe on Muncho Lake.
Along the drive today, it is almost impossible not to see animals. In the remote north-east part of British Columbia, you can find mountain goats, bison, moose, caribou, elk, wolves, coyotes, fox, lynx and bears.
Depart Fort Nelson on the Liard Highway, which offers panoramic views of the Nahanni Mountains and the Liard River, especially in Blackstone Territorial Park. Fort Simpson, located at the confluence of the Liard and the Mackenzie Rivers, is the main hub for tours in Nahanni National Park.
Options for exploration from Fort Simpson abound. Highly recommended is an optional sightseeing flight over the Nahanni National Park, which includes a landing close to the breathtaking Virginia Falls. Explore Fort Simpson, take a boat ride on the Mackenzie River, paddle the South Nahanni, the Flat River, or hike on one of the many beautiful trails.
