Day 1
After your flight from Australia, arrive in Buenos Aires and be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
Day 2
Discover this unique city with its mix of colonial architecture and European influences, on a walking city tour that portrays the many faces of Buenos Aires. Visit the Obelisk, a national historic monument and symbol of the city, as well as Plaza de Mayo and Plaza San Martin; where some of the city's most conspicuous buildings evoke the glamour of the early 20th century. Continue to magnificent Palermo and Recoleta, known for its impressive architecture, beautiful parks and the famous Recoleta Cemetery. This evening learn the dance of romance with a tango lesson from the dancers of tonight´s tango show followed by dinner. The tango show traces the history of the dance from its birth in the red light districts. Enjoy delicious international cuisine with Argentinian specialties. (B)(D)
Day 3
Fly early in the morning to Ushuaia and board MS Fridtof Nansen. Once on board, we kick off our journey with a welcome dinner. (D)
Day 4
Prepare yourself for Antarctica as we cross the famed Drake Passage. During the voyage south, the Expedition Team starts the lecture programme, giving you information about Antarctica’s fascinating history and environmental science. (B)(L)(D)
Day 5
You’ll also learn how to make your visit as safe and as sustainable as possible and you’ll join Citizen Science programmes to help collect data for current scientific research. This is also a good opportunity to enjoy all the amenities of your advanced hybrid powered expedition ship. (B)(L)(D)
Day 6
Over Days 6-10 we'll explore the White Continent. Antarctica never fails to inspire awe and wonder, with white horizons above oceans full of icebergs and whales. Perhaps even more awe-inspiring will be your first encounter with the huge colonies of penguins. (B)(L)(D)
Day 7
Hurtigruten will attempt landings at several sites in the South Shetlands and on the Antarctic Peninsula and aim to bring you to the incredible diversity of landscapes and rich wildlife on display in this pristine wilderness. (B)(L)(D)
Day 8
Our Expedition Team will lead ice-cruising and landings at every opportunity to come ashore and explore the impressive Antarctic scenery. From deck, there are great chances to spot whales. Of course, this is true wilderness, so nature is in charge, but our experienced captain will work with the elements to create the best possible itinerary for your adventure. (B)(L)(D)
Day 9
Although Antarctica is a cold and icy continent you’ll find a rich and lively wildlife there. The wildlife are only one of many good reasons to travel to Antarctica. The cruise is an adventure and you will experience amazing nature and activities such as kayaking and hiking. The continent is so unique you may get the feeling of arriving another world. (B)(L)(D)
Day 10
Wherever we explore, the sights and sounds of Antarctica are sure to stay with you for a lifetime! Our activities are exciting and varied and our on-board photograper will be on hand to show you how to capture these amazing experiences. (B)(L)(D)
Day 11
We say goodbye to this isolated idyll and set course back to civilisation through the Drake Passage (B)(L)(D)
Day 12
Spend the day at sea recapping your experiences, having fun in the Science Center or just relaxing on deck, spotting the many sea birds which follow our ship. (B)(L)(D)
Day 13
Our expedition cruise ends as we reach Ushuaia, and we transfer you to the airport for your flight back to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival from your charter flight you will be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay in Buenos Aires.
Day 14
Your expedition ends this morning after breakfast. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight to Australia. (B)
