The modern hi-tech Blue Train travels smoothly on an air-cushion suspension system throughout its 39-hour 2-night journey from Cape Town to Pretoria [or vice versa] with reduced speed at night allowing guests a peaceful night’s sleep.
 
On board entertainment includes a 24 channel entertainment system, GPS and a driver’s eye view camera showing the countryside ahead.
 
Both northbound and southbound departures will have a two-and-a-half hour off-the-train excursion in Kimberly.

ACCOMMODATION

Each Blue Train suite has a fully appointed en-suite, featuring either a bath or a shower.  All suites are equipped with telephone, television monitor, WIFI access and individually controlled air-conditioning.  On board entertainment includes a 24 channel entertainment system, GPS and a driver’s eye view camera showing the countryside ahead.

Deluxe Suites are a choice of a twin-bedded suite with shower, or double bed suite with three quarter size bath.
 
Luxury Suites have a choice of twin beds or double bed, and a full size bath with hand shower.  Luxury suites are also equipped with CD and DVD player

Day by day Itinerary of

The Blue Train

Day 1

Pretoria - Cape Town

A journey between Pretoria, the country's administrative capital and Cape Town, South Africa's cosmopolitan mother city and seat of nation's Parliament. Guests will register and check-in at 4:00pm at The Blue Train Lounge,
Pretoria Station. You can enjoy pre-departure drinks. Welcome snacks will be served on-board the train.
Boarding will start at 6:00pm and your butler will escort you to your suite where you will be given a suite orientation. The Blue Train departs from Petroria Station at 6:30pm and the first sitting for dinner will be held at 7:30pm. The second sitting for dinner will be held at 9:15pm. Remember, dinner is an elegant affair and men are requested to wear a jacket and tie or dress in traditional attire and ladies in elegant evening or traditional wear. (D) 

Day 2

Cape Town

This morning you have the option of breakfast in the dining car or it can be served in-suite on request. Following breakfast, you will disembark at Kimberley Station before heading to the Kimberley Open Mine Museum.  Enjoy a tour of the mine where you will view interesting and historical sites, you will also be taken onto an enclosed ramp on the edge of the Big Hole. On return to Kimberley Station you will be greeted with a glass of Sherry, the Sherry glass engraved with The Blue Train logo is yours to keep as a memento of your journey.  After this exciting tour, you will return to The Blue Train where you have time to freshen up before enjoying an aperitif served at any one of the lounges. At 5:00pm this afternoon High Tea is served in the Non-Smoking Lounge Car. (B,L,D)
 

Day 3

Cape Town

This morning you have the option of breakfast in the dining car or it can be served in-suite on request. The Blue Train arrives at Cape Town Station at 10:30am and your butler will escort you to The Blue Train Lounge. (B)
