Denver - Cheyenne

Drive through Rocky Mountain National Park. Visit the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum or ride in the Street Railway Trolley.

Day 3

Cheyenne - Rapid City

Rapid City lies on the edge of the Black Hills National Forest near Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Nearby, Crazy Horse Memorial is being built. (B)

Day 5

Rapid City - Deadwood

The Old West town of Deadwood is tucked in a pine-covered mountain gulch near where Kevin Costner filmed ‘Dances with Wolves’.

Day 6

Deadwood - Bismarck

Before the arrival of white settlers, presentday central North Dakota was inhabited by the Mandan Native American tribe. In 1889 Bismarck became the state capital.

Day 7

Bismarck - Medora

Medora is a good base to explore Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The park protects a unique landscape and commemorates a remarkable character.

Medora - Billings

Montana’s largest town is a good base for visits to Little Bighorn Battlefield and the Crow Indian Reservation.

Day 10

Billings - Red Lodge

Red Lodge is a quaint mountain town at the base of the Beartooth Mountains. From here, travel up the Beartooth All American Road – one of the most beautiful drives in America.

Day 11

Red Lodge - Cody

Cody is a picturesque town and a gateway to Yellowstone National Park. Enjoy a rodeo or visit the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. (B)

Cody - Yellowstone National Park

While Old Faithful serves as the park’s signature steam, there are more than 10,000 other geothermal features in Yellowstone.

Day 14

Yellowstone National Park - Bozeman

Watch for wildlife as you drive through Gallatin Canyon on your way to Bozeman.

Day 15

Bozeman - Glacier National Park

Take the Last Chance Train tour or a boat tour in the Gates of the Mountains. Continue to Browning, home of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation.

Day 16

Glacier National Park - Whitefish

Drive the Going-to-the-Sun Road a dramatic 84km seasonal road that offers views of the park’s rugged landscape and iconic wildlife.

Day 17

Whitefish - Hamilton

Visit the Smokejumper Visitor Center in Missoula then travel south into the Bitterroot Valley. This area is home to some of the largest deposits of sapphires in the world.

Day 18

Hamilton - Jackson

Jackson Hole is surrounded by lakes and towering mountains. This valley is home to elk and mule deer, as well as bison. (B)

Day 19

Jackson - Pinedale

Pinedale is an authentic Western town surrounded by more than 1300 lakes and the towering Wind River Mountain Range.

Day 20

Pinedale - Rock Springs

Visit Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area and the Wild Horse Scenic Loop Tour, where you can see some of the largest wild horse herds in the world.

Day 21

Rock Springs - Denver

Stop in Boulder, in a beautiful setting between mountains and the flatland below, on your journey back to Denver.
