Take a shuttle from Kigali to Akagara National Park where you will be met by your lodge guide. The transfer to camp is scenic and provides a great introduction to this beautiful park. You will spend the next three nights at the newly opened Magashi lodge. (D)
Enjoy a range of activities, such as game drives – including night drives, guided walks, fishing and exploring the water ways of Lake Rwanyakazinga by boat. (B)(L)(D)
Today spend a full day exploring the park looking for wildlife including buffalo, lion, leopard, elephant, spotted hyena, topi, eland and more. The park also boasts over 500 species of birds including the rare and spectacular shoebill. (B)(L)(D)
Transfer to Kigali, a vibrant and attractive city. Its existence stands as a testament to the resilience of this remarkable country and its ability to move forward from its tumultuous past. Spend the afternoon taking a three hour city and Genocide Museum tour (optional and at own expense). (B)(L)
Depart early to Volcanoes National Park. After a briefing by the national parks guides, begin your gorilla trek in search of these magnificent primates. In the afternoon, if time permits, visit the markets, villages and local communities or take an optional visit to the twin lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo (additional cost).
After breakfast, enjoy the scenic transfer back to Kigali. (B)
