On arrival you will be met and transferred to The Residence, your elegant 19th century accommodations.
After breakfast depart by road for the Cultural Triangle. En route stop in at Wilpattu National Park and take a safari looking for leopard, sloth bear and other park wildlife. Continue to your accommodation at Ulagalla, its modern chalets feature plunge pools set across 58 acres of lush rice paddies and forest, built around a fine 19th century mansion. (B)
This morning explore this beautiful ancient city with its park-like surrounds. Sites include the 2000-year old Sri Maha Bodhi tree and the enormous Ruwanwelisaya Dagoba, where pilgrims from all around the island worship. Spend the afternoon relaxing at your beautiful hotel. (B)(D)
This morning visit the ancient rock citadel of Sigiriya, Sri Lanka’s most famous site. If you are feeling up for it, climb to the summit for spectacular views and explore the remains of the ancient palace on top. Afterwards, drive a couple of hours to Trincomalee for your first seaside accommodation, at Jungle Beach where the rooms have been built into the existing lush tropical growth on a beautiful stretch of beach. This morning take a half day tour of Trincomalee, including its crumbling fort and an old Hindu temple. There is plenty of time to relax beachside in the afternoon. (B)(L)
After a leisurely breakfast check out and travel along the coast to your next Uga home – the beautiful Uga Bay at Passikudah. Situated on one of Sri Lanka’s finest beaches, you will have the afternoon at leisure to explore and relax. (B)(L)(D)

Today, drive from the coast into the island’s lush hills to the city of Kandy. Your accommodation at the Stone House is set amongst tropical hill gardens and features fine mid-century architecture making it the perfect Kandy base. (B)
This morning enjoy a market visit and cooking class with one of Kandy’s great cooks. Learn some of the secrets of Sri Lankan cuisine and enjoy your creations for lunch. In the afternoon take a city tour of Kandy with its famed Temple of the Tooth and leafy central lake. (B)(L)
This morning drive to your unique accommodation on the fringes of Yala National Park. Chena Huts are nestled on the fringes of the jungle near a beautiful beach. Surrounded by this wild environment, make yourself at home in one of the common areas or relax in your room overlooking the jungle or lagoons. (B)(D)
Today take a safari into Yala National Park. Home to one of the world’s highest densities of leopards, they are sighted daily, along with elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, mongoose and many other varieties of wildlife. (B)(L)(D)
After breakfast, drive back to Colombo and your accommodation at The Residence. In the afternoon take a city tour, seeing some of Colombo’s most vibrant trading districts. (B)
