Begin your adventure in the “Golden City” of San Francisco, with a welcome meeting in the hotel reception at 07:30 hrs. We hop in the car and head towards one of San Francisco’s most famous landmarks – the Golden Gate. Once the longest suspension bridge main span in the world, until 1964, the bridge stands at 2,737 meters long and 227 meters high. After a morning spent walking across the iconic Golden Gate and learning more about its rich history, our whistle-stop tour will drive you towards the world-renowned Lagunitas Brewing Company. Enjoy an early lunch and wash it down with a couple of homegrown imperial stouts before a brisk hike in Bodega Bay, where if you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of migrating whales and Pacific harbour seals lounging on the sands.
Crater Lake National Park in southern Oregon. While you’re here, take in the awe-inspiring views of the snow-capped volcano, Mount Shasta, that’s just a stone’s throw away from the USA’s deepest lake, Crater Lake, at 1943ft deep. Home of natural wonders, take your time to see the powerful, gushing rapids of the Rogue River Gorge and admire its cascading waterfalls that pass through ancient lava tubes. For incredible, far-reaching views, take a detour up its short half a mile paved pathway. If you have time, past the Mill Creek Falls near Prospect, you may also come across the Avenue of Boulders, created when Mt Mazama erupted over 7,700 years ago that resulted in the boulders being catapulted more than two dozen miles away.
Enjoy an exhilarating morning hike across the Crater Lake Rim Trail, arguably the best trail within the National Park due to its spectacular views and breath-taking vistas looking out towards Wizard Island. We’d recommend stopping along the trail to admire the views from Discovery Point and the steep drop of Devil’s Backbone. Afterwards, we drive to Bend, a small city on the Deschutes River, to enjoy an evening canoe tour under a canopy of stars where celestial lights guide your way. The following day, you have the option to join the infamous Bend Ale Trail, a pub crawl that hits a cluster of world-class breweries, where you’ll get your beer ‘passport’ stamped along the route. If you have any extra time, we’d recommend visiting some of the outlying breweries near downtown.

Next, we explore the largest city in Oregon, one that goes by many a name, from the ‘City of Roses’ to ‘Beervana’. Packed with top-craft breweries, this hipster haven boasts an eclectic mix of flourishing food pop-ups and vibrant street art that oozes creative flair. From local brewpubs that are longstanding to ones that started as a one-man operation in a garage, the rich history of the breweries are almost as stellar as the beer itself. In keeping with Portland’s off-kilter character, tap into the world of exception beer and join a BrewCycle tour that maps the city’s most interesting neighbourhoods and best craft beers on tap (tastings not included).
See Day 5.
Today, we travel further north towards the sandy strip of Cannon Beach along the Pacific Northwest coast. The beach’s claim to fame may be that it has the third tallest intertidal structure in the world floating on its sands, but the beach is also home to an amazing array of wildlife. Apart from boasting great views of Haystack Rock, the area attracts diverse bird life, including Tufted Puffins from early spring to mid-summer. Our final evening is spent in the Pelican Brewery Co., swapping stories over local batch beers you won’t find anywhere else, and tucking into pizza, pasta and seafood before continuing to Seattle the following morning, where this tour comes to an end.
