Day 1

Calgary - Lake Louise

Transfer into Banff National Park, to the picturesque village of Lake Louise, and check into your hotel. The afternoon is at leisure to explore, or perhaps hire some skates and go ice skating on the frozen lake.

Day 2

Lake Louise

Strap in for an inspiring winter adventure combining a heli-tour over the Canadian Rockies, winter wonderland activities and a hands-on photowalk exploring a natural phenomenon!

Take flight on a heli-experience offering front-row views of the surrounding glaciers and untouched snow-covered landscapes. Once on land, embrace the magic of a Canadian winter with a scenic snowshoe tour before warming up with a hot chocolate.

Get cozy on a horse drawn sleigh ride and enjoy a hearty Canadian lunch complete with Maple Snow Toffee. The next part of your adventure takes you to Abraham Lake via helicopter to see the famous ice bubbles. This stunning, wide open lake completely freezes over in the winter and in the process traps methane gas underneath the ice creating a spectacular visual display! The gas bubbles come in a variety of shapes and sizes, trapped at many levels in layers of ice as it forms at the different temperatures.

Capture this natural wonder through your lens with a guided bubbles photo-safari and experience first-hand the solitude and magic of the Canadian Rockies in the wintertime.

Day 3

Lake Louise - Banff

It’s time to leave the lake behind and transfer into the lively mountain town of Banff. Take a stroll down Banff Avenue, or perhaps head up for a soak in the Upper Hot Springs or ride the Banff Gondola at your leisure.

Day 4

Today is all about the wildlife that call Banff National Park home. Visit Banff’s landmarks and view local wildlife in their natural winter habitat. See and learn about wildlife behaviour, habitat and their winter survival adaptations.

Day 5

Take a tour to Johnstone Canyon, where you will hike on steel walkways built into the canyon walls for an airy view of the canyon below. This popular walk will lead you past the lower falls and to the breathtaking upper icefalls.

Day 6

Banff - Yellowknife

Take a morning shuttle transfer to Calgary for your flight north. Arrive in the city of Yellowknife, which is located directly beneath the aurora oval, and make your own way to the hotel. If you have time tonight, drop by the local brewery to try some of their award winning craft beer.

Day 7

Explore Yellowknife with a morning city tour. Set in the beautiful surrounds of Great Slave Lake, Yellowknife is a modern city which still retains its rustic nature and traditional culture. Travel by snow tracked vehicle to a cosy wilderness cabin on Great Slave Lake to spend the evening viewing the Northern Lights away from the light pollution of the city.

Day 8

Take a morning tour on an Ice Road; one of many which forms in this region in the winter, constructed out of the frozen ice. Later in the evening, return to the wilderness cabin at Great Slave Lake for another opportunity to view the Northern Lights.

Day 9

Check out of the hotel and make your own way to the airport to continue your onward journey.
