On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport you will be met and transferred to Gorges Lodge on the edge of the Batoka Gorge, 200 metres above the mighty Zambezi River. At dusk walk to Dibu Dibu for sundowners and watch the lodge’s resident pair of black eagles soar only metres away from you (weather permitting). This evening you will be entertained by the lodge’s team of talented traditional dancers. (D)
Early morning tea or coffee is served on your veranda followed by breakfast in the main
lodge before your breathtaking walk along the gorge edge. During your walk your guide will explain more on the history of Gorges and the indigenous gardens that Gorges has been built in. Lunch will be served in the dining area and in the afternoon head into Victoria Falls where you will be taken on a guided tour of Zimbabwe’s foremost attraction - Victoria Falls, ‘the smoke that thunders’. After your tour of the Falls you will be dropped off at the riverside dock in time to board your sundowner cruise along the Zambezi River. Return to Gorges Lodge in the evening for dinner, a traditional Zimbabwean ‘braai’, out under the stars. (B)(L)(D)
After breakfast you will be transferred by road to Dete Railway Station near Hwange Main Camp (around two and a half hours) where you will board the Elephant Express rail car for a slow ride down the railway line to Camelthorn Lodge on the south east Hwange National Park boundary. On arrival at Ngamo siding, a game viewing vehicle will
transfer you to Camelthorn Lodge. (B)(D)
Enjoy an early morning tea or coffee before heading out on a full day of game viewing inside Hwange National Park. A picnic lunch is served under the trees at Mfagazaan Pan. The afternoon game drive back to the lodge is at a leisurely pace going from pan to pan, arriving back at camp in time to enjoy refreshments at the campfire before
After breakfast head to nearby Ngamo Village for a village and school tour where you will be able to see some of Imvelo’s community initiative projects. Enjoy a bush brunch followed by a few hours in their underground hide, famous for the close up photos you can take of all the wildlife that comes down to drink. Enjoy an afternoon game drive and walk in Hwange National Park and a last sundowner at one of the magnificent pans before returning to camp for a farewell dinner. (B)(L)(D)
Explore the wilderness one last time on foot, taking a guided early morning walk, returning to camp for breakfast. This morning you will be transferred by road (approx. five hours) back to Victoria Falls. (B)
